Paper Trading vs Stock Trading

Paper Trading and Stock Trading - the difference

Paper trading is 'play trading'. You should always start your stock trading career by paper trading while you are learning - you will need all your real cash later! Paper trading helps a stock trader get a good grasp on his ability to stock trade and how likely he is to succeed at stock trading. While paper trading, a stock trader should first become comfortable with identifying all the potential opportunities and the mechanics of actually trading them rather than worrying about how much money is being made. Only by paper trading can this financial detachment be made, and thus allow the trader to concentrate on the important thing - consistency and emotional calmness. Once that level of consistent and relatively easy profitability is reached, the stock trader can try trading for real with small stakes. However much paper trading you do, the reality of stock trading with hard cash is always very, very different. And no, we can't explain how - you have to go thru it yourself.
